But what is the incentive for these players to practice if they are doing it for guaranteed money? What motivates you to go out there and work in the dirt? You're just getting paid a lot of money up front to participate in a few events and play 54 holes. They're playing loud music and have all these different atmospheres."

"I just don't see how that move is positive in the long run for a lot of these players," Woods added, "especially if the LIV organization doesn't get world-ranking points and the major championships change their entry criteria."

It would be tragic if some of these young kids never had the opportunity to experience what we have, to walk these hallowed grounds and compete in these championships."

Woods went so far as to criticize Norman for his role in the splinter tour. "Greg has done some things that I don't think are in our game's best interests, and we're returning to probably the most historic and traditional place in our sport."

Henrik Stenson won the third event of LIV Golf's inaugural season on Sunday in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Nearly two weeks after losing his Ryder Cup captaincy due to his participation in the series, the 46-year-old Swede shot 11-under par at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster to win $4 million.

He accepted the trophy alongside former US President Donald Trump, who was on hand for the entire three-day event and owns the course.

Before the Open in St. Andrews, Scotland, in July, Woods stated that he disagreed with the players who had left.

"I think what they've done is turned their back on what got them to this position," the 15-time major winner said.

"Some of these players may never have the opportunity to compete in major championships. That is an option. We don't know for certain. It is up to all of the major championship bodies to make that call. But it's possible that some players will never, ever get the chance to play in a major championship, never get the chance to walk down the fairways at Augusta National.

Previously, Norman told the Washington Post in June that Woods was offered a large sum of money to participate but declined. Norman described Woods' proposal as "mind-bogglingly enormous; we're talking high nine digits."

The contentious tour has enticed some big names in golf to abandon the established PGA Tour and DP World Tour to compete for large sums of money.

Major champions Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, Graeme McDowell, Charl Schwartzel, and Martin Kaymer have all joined the breakaway venture, which has offered players large sums of money to participate.

The LIV Golf series is supported by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), a sovereign wealth fund chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and has pledged to award $250 million in total prize money.

However, many players, including Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, have criticized the players for abandoning golf's traditional setup and accepting money from a country with a poor human rights record.

According to the tour's CEO, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods turned down a $700-$800 million offer to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series.

During a Fox News interview that aired on Monday, Tucker Carlson asked former world No. 1 Norman if it was true that Woods was offered $700-$800 million to join the LIV Golf series.

"That number was available before I became CEO," Norman said. "Yes, that number has been made public. Tiger is a needle mover, right?" So, naturally, you'll look at the best of the best. They approached Tiger before I became CEO, so the number is somewhere in that range."
