Estimated Jackpot Cash Value: $388.0 million

ATLANTA - Texas Lottery® players now have the opportunity to compete for the game's highest prize in 18 months after there were no winners for Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot drawing. The estimated annuitized $660 million Mega Millions jackpot for the drawing on Friday, July 22, is the third-largest jackpot payout in the history of the game and the ninth-largest in U.S. lottery history. The cash value of Friday's drawing is expected to be $388.0 million. If there is no jackpot winner in tonight's Mega Millions drawing, the jackpot amount will roll over to an estimated annuitized $790 million on Tuesday, July 26.

According to Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery, "The boost in sales that we've witnessed over the last two days for the Mega Millions game is helping the Texas Lottery meet its aim of generating cash for public education in Texas." "Players of the lottery have a chance to daydream about what they might do if they win thanks to this Mega Millions jackpot. Although lottery players are having a good time and finding it enjoyable, we want to advise them to play responsibly. To win, all you need is one ticket.

Since the April 19 drawing, when the estimated annuitized $20 million prize first became available, Friday's drawing will be the 28th in the current Mega Millions jackpot run. The second-largest jackpot payout in the history of the game, which was won by an out-of-state player, was believed to have reached $1.05 billion in the Jan. 22, 2021 drawing, when the game's jackpot was last at this size.

Since Texas joined the game in 2003, there have been 13 winners of the Mega Millions jackpot. The most recent jackpot winner was a Leander resident who received an estimated annuitized $227 million in September 2019. This was the biggest prize ever given to one Texas Lottery player.

Five Texas Lottery participants have won second-tier Mega Millions prizes of $1 million or more since the year 2022 began, including two during the current jackpot draw. For the May 13 drawing, a Houston resident claimed a second-tier prize of $1,000,510, and for the June 17 drawing, a resident of Ingram claimed a second-tier prize of $2,000,000.

Picking five numbers from a field of 70 and one Mega Ball number from a second field of 25 numbers is how Mega Millions is played. Players must match all six numbers selected, including the Mega Ball, in order to win the Mega Millions jackpot. Even though they might not win the jackpot, players who match fewer numbers could still come out ahead. The beginning jackpot for Mega Millions is now $20 million, while the second-tier (Match 5+0) payout is $1 million. Players can multiply their non-jackpot earnings by two, three, four, or five times by selecting the Megaplier® feature for $1 more per Play, with the potential to win up to $5 million.

Every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT, drawings are broadcast. Mega Millions tickets are available for purchase from more than 20,000 Texas Lottery stores throughout the state. The sale of Mega Millions tickets will end on Friday, July 22 at 9:45 p.m. CT. A store may be eligible for up to a $1 million retailer incentive if they sell a Mega Millions ticket that wins the jackpot.
