After Kid Cudi left the stage in the middle of his set due to audience members throwing objects at him, Rolling Loud got off to a rocky start on Friday in Miami. Meanwhile, Kanye West made a brief appearance during Lil Durk's performance despite having left the lineup less than a week earlier.
Initially, video that was shared on social media showed Cudi getting struck in the face while performing by what appeared to be a water bottle. Later footage shows the "Day 'n' Nite" rapper threatening to end his performance early because of the antics. "I'm fucking leaving. He declares, "I'm leaving if I'm hit with one more fucking item or if I see one more fucking thing on this fucking stage. Don't mess with me, I say. The rapper is then hit with a water bottle, which causes Cudi to drop his mike and leave the stage as the crowd starts to chant for Kanye West.
Choosing Cudi to take the place of West after the Donda 2 rapper dropped out of the festival was quite controversial. (Fans had pushed Rolling Loud organizers to substitute Travis Scott for West, which led to an odd incident in which one of the festival's co-founders falsely claimed the venue forbade Scott from performing because he was associated with a fatal crowd surge at his Astroworld festival the previous year.)
Nevertheless, West showed up at the festival in typical Ye form, making an unexpected appearance onstage with Lil Durk while donning a full face mask. Fans pointed out that West's performance of "Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1" from The Life of Pablo featured vocals by Kid Cudi.
