New York Red Bulls vs. Barcelona result: Robert Lewandowski fails to score, but Barcelona wins 2-0.

Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha are the MVPs of the USA tour.

If the series of matches in the United States is any indication, Barcelona fans are in for a treat this year. Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele had so many individual moments of brilliance over the course of the 10 days, but they only combined for one against the Red Bulls.

Because of their instant chemistry and ability to switch flanks so easily, opposing defenses will have a difficult time shutting down both of them when they're on the field at the same time.

Dembele, in particular, appears to be in mid-season form, and Barcelona would be wise to simply get him the ball and let him run wild. With his slalom runs, he can completely destroy defenses. Among all of the offseason personnel moves made, re-signing Dembele may have been the most important. He has the ability to unlock the potential of this Barcelona attack.

Why is it that Robert Lewandowski is unable to score?

So, what happened to the goal-scoring forward Barcelona thought they'd gotten in the Polish international? He's known for squandering opportunities, but despite having several against the Red Bulls, he still can't find the back of the net. He'll have one more friendly to try to break his duck before the La Liga opener against Rayo Vallecano, at which point the pressure will be on.

What appears to be happening in Lewandowski's case during this small three-game sample is a combination of bad luck, good defense, and some poorly placed shots. Lewandowski wants to be clinical every time he enters the box, but the reality is that the penalty area will be crowded given how opponents like to sit back and frustrate Barcelona. Lewandowski could benefit from being a little more inventive and less predictable with his finishing attempts at times.

The New York Red Bulls dominated the first half and came close to going into halftime with a goalless tie. Emergency defending and a handful of fine saves from goalkeeper Carlos Coronel kept the game close, but Dembele broke through just before halftime.

Lewandowski had several of Barcelona's best chances, but he either shot straight at the goalkeeper or missed the target. When RBNY's backup goalkeeper Ryan Meara made the latest in a string of saves, Lewandowski smirked at his luck on the night.

Barcelona returns to Spain with three wins and a draw from their four-game tour of the United States. They will play Mexican side Pumas UNAM at Camp Nou before opening the La Liga season against Rayo Vallecano in mid-August. The Red Bulls' push for the MLS playoffs in October and their first MLS Cup trophy continues.

Three starts and no goals for new Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski, who failed to find the back of the net despite multiple chances in his club's 2-0 friendly win over the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena in front of a pro-Barcelona sellout crowd.

Ousmane Dembele was the decisive player in Barcelona's attack for the second match in a row. The Frenchman came across the field to combine with Raphinha before firing into the far side netting. With three minutes remaining, Memphis Depay capitalized on a defensive miscommunication to complete the scoring.
